Sync the City

2019 / START-UP / COMPETITION / UX DESIGN

Sync the City is a start-up event that brings together teams of participants and expert mentors to build and launch a start-up in a weekend. It lasts 54 hours and pairs participants of different skillsets in business, design, and development with each other to build strong teams to tackle a team founder’s project.

Challenge

In 2019 I was part of the “Superuser” team, building an app that gathers data about smartphone users’ app usage and leveraging this data to match companies with ideal testers for their products, as well as offer competitive analysis. At the same time, we had to provide an incentive for consumers to use the app.

My Experience

As the only designer on the team, I contributed to discussions about research analysis and translated the results into a design that I communicated to the team’s developers. It was important for me to be involved in all stages of product design, to maintain a good understanding of the business goals and technical feasibility of my designs. The event really helped me to build my communication skills and taught me the value of iterating quickly to make progress.
